1500m Runner

Spencer is the 4th fastest GB athlete over the 1500m, with a time of 3:44.62 set on 12th November 2025 at the GB Individual National Championships.

Having started his career at Durham Harriers he moved to Runners 4life early on in his career. In the closing days of season 96 he signed for the Bumble Bees for a hefty £108k.

To date he has won 4 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and a Bronze medal at the GB Individual National Championships.

He is currently the 4th fastest British male ever, over the 1500m.

20Km Race Walker

Tilly is the current GB record holder in the 20Km Walk.

Her record stands at 1h 43:23.08 set at the GB Individual Championships.

Tilly started her career at the Bumble Bees and will most likely stay here till she retires.

To date she has won 7 Golds, 3 Silvers and 2 Bronze medals at the GB Individual National Championships and also picked up a Bronze medal in the European Masters Championships.

Hammer Thrower

Megan is a home grown star.

To date she has won 1 Gold Medal in the World Junior Championships, 1 Bronze Medal in the World Under 21 Championships and 4 Bronze Medals in the GB Individual National Championships.

She currently has a best mark of 58.19m in the Hammer.

Megan has toyed with the idea of switching from being a hammer thrower to concentrating on switching to the Javelin.

Pentathlete

Ellie holds the record for the High Jump in the Female Pentathlon for GB athletes, setting it at 1.40m.

Ellie started her career at the Bumble Bees.

During her time with us she has won 1 Silver medal at the World Under 21 Championships and 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals at the GB Individual Championships.

She has a PB in the Pentathlon of 4,531 points, which is an area record. She also holds the Area records for the following in the Pentathlon, the 100m Hurdles, the High Jump (NR), the Long Jump and the 800m.

200m Sprinter

Ashley Burrows enjoyed one of the longest and most successful careers in Bumble Bees AC history. A lifelong club athlete, he represented the Bees for more than twenty seasons and contributed to countless successes at regional and national level. His Hall of Fame place is secured through his role in the club’s male 4x400 metres relay record team, which established a club-best 3:37.27 in S84. Individually, Burrows was an outstanding sprint athlete, collecting 24 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals while excelling over 100, 200 and 400 metres as well as the hurdles. His personal best of 21.41 seconds for 200 metres highlighted his quality, while regular appearances at national championships and masters competitions demonstrated exceptional longevity. Burrows embodied commitment, consistency and team spirit throughout his career and remains one of the most admired athletes in Bumble Bees AC history.

200m Sprinter

Hollie Mortimer stands among the most influential athletes in Bumble Bees AC history and was one of the club’s earliest genuine sprint stars. A lifelong Bumble Bees athlete, she represented the club from its formative years through to S79 and established the female 200 metres club record of 23.87 in S72. That performance remained a benchmark for future generations and highlighted the speed that made her such a formidable competitor. Mortimer amassed an exceptional medal collection of 30 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals, dominating the North Wales regional circuit while repeatedly reaching national championship finals. Equally effective over 200 and 400 metres, she combined natural speed with remarkable longevity, continuing to compete successfully into masters competition. Her loyalty to the club, sustained success and record-breaking achievements make her one of the defining figures in Bumble Bees AC history and a natural Hall of Fame inductee.

400m Hurdler

Ella Burley brought speed, determination and consistency to Bumble Bees AC and established herself as one of the club’s leading hurdle specialists. Her defining achievement came in S85 when she established the female 100 hurdles club record of 17.53 seconds, securing her place in club history. Burley’s career produced 14 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronze medals, with much of her success coming through regional championship dominance and regular national-level competition. Although known primarily for the hurdles, she also demonstrated impressive sprinting ability, recording personal bests of 12.33 for 100 metres and 24.43 for 200 metres. Throughout her career she remained highly competitive, regularly challenging for national championship finals and later representing herself successfully at masters level. Her record-breaking performance and years of dedicated service ensure her place among Bumble Bees AC’s Hall of Fame athletes.

Javelin Thrower

Maya Wales ranks among the finest female throwers ever to wear the Bumble Bees AC vest. Signed in S76, she quickly became a major force within the club and established the female javelin throw club record of 53.59 metres in S84. Her success extended far beyond a single discipline, with strong performances in discus, hammer and shot put demonstrating remarkable versatility across the throws. Wales accumulated 16 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals, while also earning a silver medal at Continental Junior Championship level. Her record-breaking javelin performance came at the Individual National Championships Great Britain and remains one of the most prestigious marks in club history. Consistently competitive at national level and capable of scoring heavily in multiple disciplines, Wales helped strengthen Bumble Bees AC’s field-event reputation and remains one of the club’s most accomplished Hall of Fame inductees.

Triple Jumper

Rory Matthews may only have spent a short period with Bumble Bees AC between Seasons 92 and 96, but in that time he firmly established himself as one of the club’s most naturally gifted field athletes.

A superb all-round jumper, Rory excelled across the High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump, regularly competing at the highest domestic level. During his time with the club he set two regional records that still stand today — 1.92m in the High Jump and 7.35m in the Long Jump — performances that cemented his place in North Wales athletics history.

Despite his relatively short stay with the Bumble Bees, Rory enjoyed considerable success at the GB Individual National Championships, winning 2 Silver medals during Seasons 95 and 96 while also recording several additional top-level championship finishes.

Rory was particularly strong in the Triple Jump, where he consistently competed among the nation’s elite athletes and even represented at Olympic level during Season 95.

Alongside his national success, he also dominated the regional circuit, winning multiple North Wales regional titles across the jumping disciplines.

Known for his athleticism, versatility and explosive jumping ability, Rory became a fan favourite during his time at the club and remains remembered as one of the most talented field athletes to represent the Bumble Bees colours.

Shot Put Thrower

Tilly began her athletics journey within the Bumble Bees youth setup in Season 79 and remained a key part of the club until Season 96, when she was eventually sold after an outstanding career spanning nearly two decades.

Specialising in the Shot Put, Tilly established herself as one of the finest field athletes in North Wales history. She still holds the North Wales Shot Put record with an impressive throw of 18.35m, a mark that continues to stand among the region’s greatest performances.

During her time at Bumble Bees AC, Tilly consistently competed at the highest domestic level, earning 5 Silver medals and 2 Bronze medals at the GB Individual National Championships.

Alongside her national success, she dominated the regional circuit, collecting 12 Individual Regional Championship titles and multiple additional podium finishes across North Wales competitions.

Earlier in her career, Tilly also represented at both World U21 and Continental U21 level, gaining valuable international experience against elite young athletes from across the globe.

Known for her power, consistency and longevity in the sport, Tilly became a highly respected athlete within the club and a favourite among Bumble Bees supporters throughout her career.

800m Runner

Few athletes in Bumble Bees AC history can claim the status of club legend as convincingly as Angus Yorston. Beginning his career with the Bees Youth Team in Season 74 and remaining a prominent figure until his retirement in Season 96, Angus devoted more than twenty seasons to the club and established himself as one of the finest middle-distance runners of his generation.

Specialising in the 800 metres, he set a remarkable club and North Wales area record of 1:53.80, a performance that remains one of the standout achievements in Bumble Bees AC history. His dominance at domestic level was reflected in an exceptional medal collection of 9 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals at the GB Individual National Championships, alongside 18 Individual Regional Championship titles.

Internationally, Angus represented Great Britain with distinction, winning European Masters gold, European Championship bronze medals, World U21 silver and World Masters bronze. He was a regular competitor at Olympic Games, World Championships and European Championships, producing one of the defining moments of his career in Season 91 when he finished sixth in the Olympic Games 800 metres final in 1:55.02.

Recognised as the fourth-fastest British male of all time over 800 metres, Angus combined longevity, consistency and championship success throughout an outstanding career. Record holder, international medallist, fan favourite and role model, he remains one of the greatest athletes ever to represent Bumble Bees AC and a figure whose legacy continues to inspire future generations of Bees athletes.

10,000m Runner

Anna Mudie spent the majority of her athletics career with Bumble Bees AC, progressing through the club from the Youth Team in Season 76 through to Season 96, before an ill-fated move to TSV Haasen, that saw the end of her career.

A dedicated and consistent distance runner, Anna specialised in the 5000m and 10,000m, becoming one of the most respected endurance athletes in North Wales athletics. Her personal best of 35:58.65 remains the North Wales record and stands as one of the finest long-distance performances produced by the region.

During her time with Bumble Bees AC, Anna secured 1 Silver medal and 3 Bronze medals at the GB Individual National Championships, regularly competing against the nation’s top distance runners.

Alongside her national success, she dominated regional competition throughout her career, collecting 10 Individual Regional Championship titles and multiple additional podium finishes across North Wales.

Anna also represented at international age-group level, competing at both World U21 and Continental U21 Championships during the early stages of her career, gaining valuable experience on the global stage.

Known for her resilience, consistency and commitment to the sport, Anna became a highly respected member of the club and remains a fondly remembered athlete among Bumble Bees supporters and teammates alike.

Decathlete

Peter Conway represented Bumble Bees AC between Seasons 87 and 100, building a reputation as one of the club’s most dedicated and technically gifted multi-event athletes.

A talented decathlete, Peter consistently competed at national level throughout his career and became particularly renowned for his excellence in the Pole Vault discipline. Although he never secured an Individual National Championship title, he regularly finished among the top decathletes in Great Britain, recording multiple top-10 finishes at the GB Individual National Championships across a long and consistent career.

Peter remains the current Great Britain National Record holder in the Decathlon Pole Vault, clearing an outstanding height of 4.15m on several occasions — a mark that still stands today.

Alongside his national achievements, Peter dominated regional competition throughout his career, winning 11 Individual Regional Championship titles and adding multiple additional podium finishes in the Decathlon.

His versatility across the events was further demonstrated through additional club records in the Decathlon High Jump and Decathlon Discus Throw, highlighting his all-round athletic ability across the full range of disciplines.

Known for his longevity, professionalism and commitment to the demanding nature of combined events, Peter earned enormous respect within the club and remains remembered as one of the Bumble Bees’ finest ever multi-event athletes.

100m Hurdler/Pentathlete

Hannah Ellis is another of the original Day 1 Bumble Bees athletes to earn a deserved place in the club’s Hall of Fame. Representing Bumble Bees AC from Season 56 through to Season 69, Hannah built a reputation as one of the club’s most versatile and dedicated female athletes.

She initially established herself as a talented sprint hurdler, specialising in the 100m Hurdles, before successfully transitioning into combined events following the introduction of the Pentathlon and Heptathlon competitions. Her adaptability and all-round athletic ability allowed her to compete successfully across multiple disciplines throughout her career.

At national level, Hannah earned 2 Bronze medals at the GB Individual National Championships — one in the 100m Hurdles and another in the Pentathlon — highlighting her success both as an individual hurdler and as a combined events athlete.

Alongside her national achievements, Hannah dominated regional competition during her career, winning an outstanding 14 Individual Regional Championship titles across hurdles and combined events disciplines.

One of the defining moments of her career came during Season 66, when she set new National Record International marks in both the Pentathlon and Heptathlon, cementing her place among the leading combined-event athletes of her era.

Throughout her time with the Bumble Bees, Hannah was admired for her versatility, determination and longevity in the sport. Her successful transition from sprint hurdling into combined events remains one of the club’s great athletic success stories and ensures her lasting legacy within Bumble Bees AC history.

High Jumper

Imogen Tokely became one of the most versatile field-event athletes ever produced by Bumble Bees AC. A lifelong club member, she spent more than twenty seasons representing the Bees and consistently delivered success across multiple jumping disciplines. Her Hall of Fame place is secured through the female high jump club record of 1.74 metres, established in S88, but her achievements extended well beyond a single event. Tokely collected 18 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals during a distinguished career and regularly challenged Britain’s leading jumpers at national level. Her personal bests of 3.67 metres in pole vault and 5.07 metres in long jump highlight exceptional versatility rarely seen in a single athlete. Combining longevity, adaptability and competitive success, Tokely became a vital member of the club’s field-event programme and a deserved Hall of Fame inductee.

10,000m Runner

Gary Mackle became one of the cornerstone endurance athletes of Bumble Bees AC and helped establish the club’s reputation in long-distance running. A home-grown competitor who spent nearly twenty seasons with the club, Mackle secured his Hall of Fame place through the male 10,000 metres club record of 34:01.91, set in S73. His career was built upon consistency and resilience, producing an impressive medal haul of 16 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals. Mackle excelled across the endurance disciplines, recording personal bests of 15:09.33 for 5000 metres and 2:33:31.60 for the marathon. National championship medals and repeated regional victories demonstrated his ability to compete successfully at every level. Throughout his career he was a dependable points scorer and a respected figure within the club, helping to lay the foundations for Bumble Bees AC’s enduring strength in distance running.
